5/24/23: Attention, Moderate Democrats! It's OK to Disagree with Your Party's Extreme "Woke" Agenda!
I am neither a registered Republican nor a registered Democrat (I guess that means I’m an “Independent” by default). So I don’t feel the need to take a “partisan” stance on any issue, or to dig in my heels and get defensive whenever one party is attacked by someone on the opposite side. Rather, it is more interesting to just calmly observe not only the growing polarization between Democrats and Republicans, but also the discordant political dynamics brewing within each party. And today I’d like to focus on the Democrats, by asking a few questions that might help those “moderate” members of the party who are feeling uneasy about the direction in which the agenda is going.
The overriding issue of concern with the Democrats today, as I see it, is the obvious way in which the party has been “hijacked” in recent years by the “woke”, radical left element. And as this process intensifies, I can’t help wondering about all the millions of moderate, “middle of the road”, rationally progressive Democrats who must be feeling very much marginalized and ignored by their party’s current leadership.
So here are a few key questions that moderate Democrats might want to ask themselves (and discuss with their like-minded friends and relatives):
Do I really agree that biological males should be allowed to compete with biological females in sports events, and that this should be considered normal? (Your party’s current leaders think so.)
Do I really agree that hundreds of thousands of unvetted foreign nationals should be allowed to illegally enter the United States each year? (Your party’s current leaders think so.)
Do I really agree that pre-pubescent children should be allowed to decide for themselves (without parental advice or consent) if they want to permanently change their gender—and undergo the irreversible medical procedures for doing so? (Your party’s current leaders think so.)
Do I really agree that massive lifestyle changes should be forced upon the public over the next decade or two through a mandatory “green” agenda—whether they want it or not? (Your party’s current leaders think so.)
Do I really agree that America’s Constitutionally-protected freedom of speech should no longer be allowed in educational institutions? (Your party’s current leaders think so.)
Do I really agree that most or all Republicans—even African-American and Hispanic Republicans—are “racists” or “white supremacists”? (Your party’s current leaders think so.)
Do I really agree that people should be allowed to vote in elections without having to show a simple, valid form of ID? (Your party’s current leaders think so.)
Do I really agree that it’s OK to use the power of our FBI and CIA for illegal interference with presidential elections? (Your party’s current leaders think so.)
Do I really agree that all 50 states should be forced to provide completely unrestricted abortion services through all nine months of pregnancy (and that there can be no room for any legitimate moral opposition to that)? (Your party’s current leaders think so.)
Do I really agree that it’s OK for (unelected) Federal bureaucrats to impose destructive “lockdowns”, “mandates”, and even forced vaccinations on the American people—with Congress not even being allowed to debate or vote on these matters? (Your party’s current leaders think so.)
Do I really agree that the mayors, city council members, and district attorneys of America’s largest cities (who are virtually all Democrats) are doing everything they possibly can to crack down on violent crime and property crimes.…and that fringe organizations like BLM and Antifa are not dangerous? (Your party’s current leaders think so.)
Do I really agree that there should be no Democratic primary debates allowed in 2024, even though there is more than one viable candidate running? (Your party’s current leaders think so.)
And…do I really agree that a man who will be 82 years old in November 2024—and who is already showing obvious signs of dementia—should be elected President for another four years beyond that? (Your party’s current leaders think so:-).
Of course, I could go on with a few more such questions, but I think you get the point. If your answer was “no” to most or all of the above, then you might want to let your Democratic local, state, and Federal office-holders know how you feel….and tell them what you think about the direction in which your party has been hijacked over the past several years. Otherwise, they will just keep pushing forward with more of their radical “woke” agenda—while assuming that it must be OK with all Democrats.
By the way—in case you’re wondering—as a bipartisan critic, I’m not going to let the Republicans off the hook either. In another post, I will take a look at the divisive issues within that party, and encourage those who feel they have been marginalized by the current Republican leadership to speak up and let their views be known as well.
